Privacy policy

Overview

Becoming Three is a free, private, offline pregnancy companion app made by Dylan Cowley. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on our servers, because the app has no servers. Everything stays on your device.

Sensitive health data

Pregnancy and reproductive health information is among the most sensitive personal data there is, and we take that seriously. Becoming Three is designed from the ground up so that your health data, including pregnancy details, mood check-ins and journal entries, never leaves your device unless you export a backup file yourself.

We do not treat your health information as a business asset. We do not monetize it, analyze it, or share it.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following information locally, in your device's built-in storage (in the web version, your browser's storage for this site):

This data is accessible only to you on your device. It is not synced to any cloud service, backed up to our systems, or accessible to us in any way. If you choose to export a backup, the file is saved where you put it and is under your control.

• Your due date or last menstrual period date
• Journal entries you write, including loss-support journal entries
• Mood check-ins
• Pregnancy checklist progress
• What you record with the in-app tools, such as the kick counter, contraction timer and hospital bag checklist
• App preferences (perspective, notification settings)

Data we collect

The app collects nothing. The Becoming Three app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind. Specifically, the app does not include:

• Google Analytics or Firebase
• Facebook SDK or any Meta services
• Crashlytics, Sentry, or any crash reporting tool
• Any advertising or marketing network
• Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect integration

Website analytics

This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It uses no cookies, doesn't track you across sites, and collects no personal data. Your pregnancy data in the app never leaves your device.

Notifications

In the phone app, if you opt in to weekly reminders, these are scheduled entirely on your device using your phone's local notification system. No data is sent to any server to deliver them. You can revoke notification permissions at any time in your phone's settings. The web version doesn't send notifications.

Law enforcement and legal requests

Because all data is stored only on your device and we have no servers or databases, we have no user data to provide in response to any legal request, court order, subpoena, or government demand. This is not a policy choice. It is a technical reality.

We will never voluntarily share information about our users with law enforcement or any government authority.

Data security

Your data is protected by your device's operating system security, including file-level encryption on modern Android and iOS devices. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a screen lock to protect your data at rest.

If your device is lost, stolen, or accessed by someone else, your Becoming Three data is as secure as your device itself.

Data retention

Your data stays on your device until you uninstall the app (in the web version, until you clear this site's data in your browser). Doing so removes all locally stored Becoming Three data permanently. We retain no copies of your data anywhere.

Your rights: GDPR (European users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you exercise these rights directly:

Because we collect no data, there is no data controller to contact for these requests. You are in full control.

• Access and portability: your data is on your device, accessible to you at all times.
• Correction: edit your data directly within the app.
• Deletion: uninstall the app to delete all data permanently.

Your rights: CCPA (California users)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you rights regarding your personal information. We do not sell personal information because we do not collect any. There is nothing to opt out of.

Age requirement

Becoming Three is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, and the app is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a minor is using this app, please contact us at the address below.

Medical information disclaimer

The medical reference content in this app is for general educational purposes only. It was not written or reviewed by licensed medical professionals and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider with questions about your pregnancy or health.

Changes to this policy

If we introduce features that change how data is handled, we will update this policy and revise the "last updated" date. We will never introduce data collection practices that contradict the core principle of this policy: your data stays on your device.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
